MAZING ACRES
SCOPE
The Mazing Acres murals were created for a pumpkin patch near Yankton, SD. These murals were designed with the intent to attract a larger target audience. Before the fall of 2022, Mazing Acres was strictly a kid friendly patch. By creating a wide variety of attractions and fun activities, the murals are used as photo stations for all ages. Visitors are welcome to share photos that were taken in front of the murals as a social media marketing tool.
METHOD
I began this project by sketching and brainstorming design ideas for both mural surfaces. I then chose my most successful idea and continued with more sketches. Once I had a solid design concept, I began using Adobe Illustrator to digitize the design with patterns, block color, line work, and color matching. I presented the work to the Mazing Acres marketing team and they approved the design. I cleaned and primed all surfaces before applying any paint. I used a griding system, projector, and chalk to transfer my design onto both the shipping container and wood fence. I began to paint. Once finished, I sealed both surfaces with an exterior varnish to protect the designs.
